SHILLONG: A fire broke out Sunday morning near Ajmera Marbles on G.S. Road, close to Shillong’s busy Bara Bazar (Iewduh) area, prompting a rapid response from local fire and emergency services.
The incident, which occurred between 11:20 and 11:30 AM, is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit at the Kao Chin Restaurant, though the exact cause remains under investigation.
Four fire tenders were dispatched to the scene, and firefighters managed to quickly contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading further in the densely populated commercial area.
No casualties were reported.
Authorities are assessing the extent of property damage and conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
