SHILLONG: Jyoti Sroat School under the Bethany Society on Friday inaugurated a new 17-seater school bus and installed a sanitary vending machine as part of initiatives aimed at improving accessibility, dignity, and student welfare for Children and Persons with Disabilities.
The programme was attended by Director of Social Welfare Department C.D. Lyngwa, Lunia Foundation representative Manoj Lunia, and Bethany Society Executive Director Bertha G. Dkhar, among others.
Speaking at the event, Lyngwa highlighted the importance of inclusive development and collective efforts in ensuring equal opportunities for Persons with Disabilities.
Manoj Lunia reiterated the Foundation’s commitment towards accessible education, stating that transportation and physical barriers should never hinder children from receiving quality education.
A sanitary vending machine sponsored by Donkupar Rapthap was also installed within the school premises to promote menstrual hygiene and support female students with disabilities.
Meanwhile, the newly inaugurated school bus donated by the Lunia Foundation is expected to ease transportation challenges faced by students and improve school accessibility.
