SHILLONG: A major security breach has been alleged in Mukroh village, West Jaintia Hills, after over 20 armed Assam Police personnel and accompanying media crews marched through the border village without prior notice or coordination with local authorities.
The midday operation, which included filming along the NEC road and internal routes, reportedly bypassed both the Meghalaya Police Battalion and the Border Outpost at Lumthridow without being challenged or questioned.
The Mukroh Dorbar Shnong, led by Waheh Shnong Kitlang Maskut and Secretary Preciousstar Sten, has demanded an immediate written explanation from the In-Charge of the Barato Police Outpost and questioned how the contingent was allowed to traverse Meghalaya territory unchecked.

The village leadership expressed concern over the motives behind the operation, raising fears of intimidation and unauthorized territorial claims, and recalled the traumatic border clash of November 2022.
The Dorbar Shnong has called for a formal protest to be lodged with Assam police authorities, stricter enforcement of interstate boundary agreements, and an immediate upgrade to patrolling and security at the Mukroh Border Outpost to prevent future incidents and ensure community safety.
