SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has strongly denied rumors connecting its members to a recent late-night scooty hit-and-run incident in Shillong that injured an Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic).
In a statement, KSU Information and Publicity Secretary Pynshai Kupar M Dkhar expressed concern for the safety of law enforcement but objected to unsubstantiated claims—allegedly from police sources—suggesting KSU involvement.
The KSU questioned the basis of these allegations, arguing that, given the large number of two-wheelers in Shillong and persistent issues like substance abuse among drivers, it is unjustifiable to single out the organization without concrete evidence.

The Union clarified it does not condone unlawful conduct and urged police to conduct a thorough, evidence-based investigation using CCTV footage and other admissible proof.
KSU affirmed that if any members are found guilty, they should be prosecuted without leniency, but it will not accept baseless accusations that tarnish the Union’s reputation.
The KSU called for a fair investigation, free from speculation and rumor.
