SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Government has launched a decisive crackdown on recent border violence, forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and enacting strict law enforcement following high-level talks with Assam officials.

Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar announced that police from both states are actively pursuing those responsible for vandalism, reaffirming a zero-tolerance approach to disruptions of peace.

To safeguard commuters and restore essential supply routes, the state has set up a Joint Committee on Tourism Transport and deployed police escorts for 400 to 500 vehicles traveling through vulnerable border areas.
