NPP Leader Wailadmiki Shylla Dismisses Rift Rumors

Regarding political changes in Jaintia Hills, Shylla remarked that such realignments are a normal part of politics.

SHILLONG: Cabinet Minister and NPP leader Wailadmiki Shylla has rejected speculation about internal divisions within the National People’s Party (NPP) legislature party, affirming that the party remains united despite recent defections of UDP MLAs to the BJP.

Speaking to reporters, Shylla said there was no indication of rifts among NPP MLAs or between legislators and party leadership, emphasizing the party’s long-standing unity.

He expressed strong confidence in Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma’s leadership, noting that the NPP has successfully managed coalitions with multiple parties in the past.

Shylla clarified that recent meetings between the NPP national president and party MLAs were routine and not prompted by the latest political developments.

Regarding political changes in Jaintia Hills, Shylla remarked that such realignments are a normal part of politics and reiterated that the NPP is focused on governance and strengthening its work under the Chief Minister’s leadership.
