SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has categorically dismissed rumors of a political realignment involving the United Democratic Party (UDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), calling the reports baseless and driven by social media speculation.
Addressing claims that eight UDP legislators might join the BJP if the Centre fulfills their demands, Sangma stated he has received no credible information on the matter.
The Chief Minister emphasized that government decisions cannot be made on the basis of assumptions or unverified media reports, insisting that comments and actions must be grounded in facts.

He reaffirmed that the National People’s Party (NPP) is fully united and stable, with 33 legislators supporting the ruling coalition.
Sangma assured there is no internal movement or hidden agenda within the NPP, highlighting that the party functions as a cohesive team focused on governance.
He noted that the party’s top priority remains expanding its grassroots presence ahead of the Shillong Lok Sabha by-election and the GHADC elections.
