SHILLONG: BJP National Secretary and party in-charge for Meghalaya, Anil K. Anthony, on Monday said the party is fully prepared for the upcoming GHADC MDC elections, despite the process being temporarily halted.
Speaking to reporters, Anthony stated that the BJP had announced its candidates well in advance, naming 29 contenders who are actively engaging with the public across constituencies.
He expressed confidence that the party, which currently has two MDCs in the GHADC, will improve its performance through sustained grassroots efforts.
Looking ahead to the 2028 Meghalaya Assembly elections, Anthony said the BJP aims to secure more seats than it currently holds. He highlighted the party’s growing presence in the Northeast, noting that the NDA alliance now governs seven out of eight states in the region, with BJP directly leading governments in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Tripura.
He added that public support for the party continues to grow due to its focus on development.
