Congress Launches Nationwide Talent Hunt

The hunt seeks to fill crucial communication and research roles within the party.

Shillong, 1 December: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has launched a “National Talent Hunt” aimed at recruiting educated young people, professionals, and experienced minds into the party ranks. The initiative, guided by National President and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, emphasises the need for the Congress party to adapt to “new age politics” where effective communication is key.

Mathew Anthony, Joint Secretary of the AICC, announced the launch, extending an invitation to all citizens who believe in a “secular India,” the Constitution, and the Congress ideology to participate.

FOCUS ON KEY ROLES
The hunt seeks to fill crucial communication and research roles within the party.

Spokesperson: For showcasing articulation skills.
Research Coordinator: For demonstrating research skills.
Media Coordinator: For proving public relations (PR) skills.

Anthony highlighted the party’s particular interest in Meghalaya, noting the significant current interest in the Congress within the state. “This is an opportunity for all the educated, experienced, intellectual, and other experienced minds of people in the state of Meghalaya to come and be with us, participate with us, join us and enjoy one [of] the oldest and of the biggest party of India,” he stated.

ADDRESSING NATIONAL CONCERNS: Onika, a party representative, described the initiative as a “game changer,” noting that people are keen to voice their opinions regarding the “present scenario of the country.” She alleged that the current government is attempting to “dismantle the constitution” and is “trying to change things as per their convenience.”

”We felt, what would a better platform than for them to join and raise their voice where there is transparency and accountability,” Onika added.

SELECTION CRITERIA AND TIMELINE
The selection process is based on a broad set of parameters such as commitment to the values and ideology of the Congress, clear thinking and quick response, strong command over language, political awareness and knowledge of History.

With the deadline for applications tight, the entire process is scheduled to conclude within the first half of December.

Application Launch: December 1st (Google Forms will be circulated via social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
Application Deadline: December 10th.
Application Screening/Shortlisting: December 11th.
State-Level Physical Interview & Group Discussion: December 15th (Final Selection).
The talent hunt is being conducted nationwide in two phases per state, with Assam already completing its first phase.

POLITICAL CONTEXT
The party is confident of a strong turnout, stating that the country is “reeling under lot of issues,” including unemployment, price rise and “divisional politics” allegedly being practiced by the Modi Government.

When questioned about the lack of a central leader from Meghalaya in Delhi, Mr. Anthony pointed out the legacy of former leader P.A. Sangma, who was the Minister of State for Minorities. “We claim with a lot of pride that it is the Congress party, which has given space for the talents from the Northeast and we continue to do that,” he concluded.
