SHILLONG: Sanjeev Chopra, IAS, Secretary of the Department of Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, inaugurated a Command & Control Centre at the Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in Shillong on Thursday.
The new system enables real-time GPS tracking of vehicles transporting foodgrains from depots to Fair Price Shops.
Chopra explained that the initiative will allow authorities to monitor vehicle movement and verify timely delivery of consignments.
The centre is expected to resolve complaints about vehicles failing to reach their destinations or cases of diversion by providing immediate location data for any irregularities.
Commissioner and Secretary Pravin Bakshi, IAS, Director I. Mawlong, and other officials attended the inauguration.
